This blog is meant as a place for students of English conversation classes in Meerbusch and Krefeld to meet, to catch up on what they’ve missed, to find links to interesting websites that will give background information to the subjects we talk about in class. However Karen, the hapless teacher and blogger, also does a fair amount of reading in her spare time and often (ab)uses the blog to post reviews of what she’s read.

Hey! Following the link on Donna’s blog, I found this one. Intersting, even though I have issue with linking to about.com- they advertise more than they teach and inevitably lead lambs to financial slaughter. I checked it out though and they seem better than before. I like your original lessons a lot though!
Hey there Magda! Nice to see you here, and thanks for the compliment – especially coming from a fellow TSL teacher! I’d be happy to steal tips from you – I know you have also put together useful websites for English learners, but somehow I lost the link. The adverts on about.com are good and obvious aren’t they? So I would hope people don’t get led lamb-like to their doom.

Hi- my website is mostly links to other people’s exercises. I have only a few of my own, and they are few and far between. Many exercises are done by ESL CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) guys at major universities, and they are both good and absolutely free. The whole website may be a bit overwhelming, but try Grammar, Reading, Listening and Vocabulary pages. The Grammar page seems to be the most popular.
Enjoy!

Hello Karen and dear all,
thanks to G. I got this address and I´m so happy “about” that.
Over the long weekend I spent 5 days inManchester, Liverpool and London together with my family. Manchester and Liverpool were fantastic and worth another trip (when the temperature is a bit higher than last week).
I would be glad to hear from you.
Kind regards
Irmgard
Hallo Irmgard! I’m glad you found us here, and also that you enjoyed your trip to the North of England., despite the weather. (Rome was probably warmer!)
See you soon
Karen
We just came back from the North of England and have also visited Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds – great places to visit. A lot has been done there to improve the cities, we were much impressed. See you
Annette
Magda, thanks very much for the link. Would it be OK if I put it into the really Useful section on the sidebar? There is a wealth of stuff there!
Karen
Irmgard, sorry, I was a bit confused for a moment there: in fact it’s not a question of see you soon is it? How’s the course going? Are you learning lots of useful stuff? I will pass on your regards: we miss you!
Karen
Hi Karen- sure. You’re welcome to put a link to my website here.
I enjoyed your ‘cheating’ entry. Looking forward to the next!
Thanks Magda, it’s there in the side bar.
Dear Karen, Hi everybody – please join us and support the Red Bull adventure of our son Philippe from Berlin to Paris this week:
http://www.redbullcanyoumake it.com
his team GER038 – The Ding Ding Dongs,
signe in as their fan and don’t forget to vote for them!
Thank you and have fun,
Cu Ellen.
Thanks coach, now the Ding Ding Dongs are getting to win the competion!
Have a nice evening!
You’re welcome Ellen. I suppose they make you go through that procedure of registering to prevent people making multiple votes. Cunning.
I had a look around: I had to laugh at the team from the UK called dyslexics untied. (I like that)
All the best to them
K.
Like Magda (only later) I found this through the link from Donna’s bog which I also just found this morning. Love your Kitchmas comments. I’m so turned off by holiday stuff this year–grieving really that people care about bargains so much they’d trample a man to death. Delighted to hear his family sued Wal*Mart.
Susan
Hi Susan!
Funnily enough, that story of the man trampled to death was one of the pieces we did in class this morning. Most disturbing, as you say.
Good to see you here!
K.
